5.14.19 Release Notes

Welcome, Misty Developers!

We’re excited to announce the next system update for Misty II field trial robots. This release brings a few bug fixes and several under-the-hood improvements to the Misty platform.

Please note: This update is only for Misty II field trial prototypes. Misty I robots will not receive this system update.

Because this release is being delivered as an over-the-air (“OTA”) update, Misty will automatically update within the next 24 hours (the precise timing of the update’s availability may vary by region). You also have the option of checking to see if the update is available and initiating the process yourself via the API Explorer. Note: If your Misty II is on a version of the Home Robot app earlier than 2.0.3.0, you’ll need to check for updates using an older version of the API Explorer.

Important: When Misty’s battery is charged or she is connected to power, she checks for and installs available updates each time she boots up. Misty reboots once during a system update. The system disables all commands except Halt and Stop while Misty updates. If Misty starts to install an update while charging, please do not disconnect Misty from her power source until her eyes are fully open again.

As always, we look forward to your feedback!

Bug Fixes & Improvements

  • Fixed a bug where misty.SendExternalRequest() failed to return response data to the callback function in on-robot skills.
  • Fixed a bug where Misty successfully installed system updates but displayed false error messages indicating those updates had failed.
  • Several UX improvements and bug fixes to the Skill Runner web page.
  • Addressed an issue where Misty’s head moved in an unpredictable “bobble” pattern.
  • Improved various under-the-hood elements that continue to ready the platform for launch.

New Known Issues

The following list includes new known issues with this release. For a list of all known issues with Misty I Developer Edition and Misty II field trial robots, see the Known Issues section of the community forums.

  • Misty doesn’t drive the correct distance when executing DriveHeading commands.
  • Misty fails to save audio files returned by the misty.SendExternalRequest() method to her local storage.
  • There is currently a bug that prevents Misty from returning accurate values when you subscribe to ActuatorPosition events. Until this is resolved, it’s best to avoid relying on these values in your skill development.
  • The fix this release contains for sporadic head “bobble” movement in Misty II field trial prototypes causes Misty to execute head movement commands with some inaccuracy. Until resolved, expect head movement commands to be slightly imprecise.
